Billy the Kid, whose real name was Henry McCarty (also known as William H. Bonney), is one of the most famous outlaws in the history of the American Wild West. His freedom did not last long. A few months later, Pat Garrett tracked him down and shot him at Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Billy the Kid was only 21 years old when he died.
